Role Overview
As the Safeguarding & Gender Associate, you will champion the integration of safeguarding standards and gender equality across our programs. You will develop policies, conduct analyses and ensure that our activities promote safety, dignity and inclusion for all participants.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement safeguarding and gender policies in line with best practices.
- Carry out gender analyses and action planning for projects.
- Deliver training and capacity building on safeguarding and gender equality to staff and partners.
- Monitor compliance with safeguarding standards and conduct regular assessments.
- Engage stakeholders and advocate for gender‑responsive programming.
- Document and report safeguarding incidents and lessons learned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in gender studies, social sciences or a related field.
- At least one year of experience working on safeguarding and/or gender‑mainstreaming initiatives.
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and gender analysis methodologies.
- Fluency in English and Amharic, with strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
- Ability to analyse gender dynamics and design appropriate interventions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with donor‑funded projects.
- Familiarity with internationally recognised safeguarding policies and guidelines.
- Relevant certifications in gender or safeguarding.
